I am in Hong Kong right now!!
This morning we woke up at left at 11. Amie and I went to the Pearl Market, which is exactly what it sounds like. They have all sorts of jewelry made out of all sorts of pearls. It’s so neat. I wanted to buy everything, but limited myself to about 10 necklaces and a few bracelets and earrings. We also stopped at the underground, or as Amie calls it: the fake market, to look for a purse for Amber and a necklace hanger for me.
We got back around 2, and just relaxed and packed for Hong Kong. We left our place a little before 5 to catch our 6:30 flight. The flight was a little delayed, but not bad. We flew into Shenzhen instead of Hong Kong because it was a lot cheaper. So after we landed, we took a bus over the river to Hong Kong. We actually had to take 3 buses, and it took about an hour and a half. :) We took one bus from the airport to the bridge. Then we went through immigration and got on a different bus that took us across the bridge. After the bridge, we got off again and went through Hong Kong’s immigration, and then got on one more bus to take us to the city. It was crazy, but not too bad.
We caught a taxi at the bus stop and got to our hotel a little before midnight. We were all hungry, so Amie, my dad, and I walked to McDonalds and got us some dinner. It was neat to walk through Hong Kong. It seems just like New York City. It’s all super crowded and there are tons of colorful lights everywhere. I really wish Rob could have come, I know he would have loved it here.
Our hotel room is the smallest room I’ve seen in my whole life!! There are 2 twin beds in it. And about a foot, maybe 2, of walk space between the beds and the walls. It’s hard to describe how small it is, but it’s not bad.
I’m glad to finally be able to say I’ve been to Hong Kong!! It’s going to be fun here!
