China Day 15 - June 1

This morning we woke up and Amie and I walked down a block to 7 Eleven. We bought some breakfast for us and mom. (Dad had to go work today.) When we were all ready, we took a taxi to Star Ferry. It’s a ferry that goes across the river to Hong Kong Island. We are staying on the part of Hong Kong that’s on mainland China. It only took us 10 minutes to get there, and the ferry ride was only another 10 minutes. Then we were on the island!

We took another taxi to Stanley Market, which is on the south west side of the island, and there is awesome shopping there. We found so many things we wanted to get! Amie and I got some floor length silk dresses which are really pretty. We both got a purse, Amie got some scarves, I got an oil painting of the Hong Kong bay, and a few other odds and ends. It was really fun. We ate lunch there at a place called Pizza Express that overlooked the harbor. It was gorgeous.

We stayed at Stanley Market until 5:30 pm, and then we hopped into a taxi to come back to the hotel. We were meeting my dad back at the hotel around 7, and then we were going to go out to eat and to the night market.

So we left and went out to eat at Outback. It was delicious! It was probably the closest to real American food that I have had since being in China. After Outback, we went over to the night market. It’s a street full of vendors and their shops and they have all sorts of things there. There were clothing, jewelry, paintings, Chinese trinkets, purses, and lots of other shops. It was so crowded, but really fun. I got another oil painting, this time a little bigger and of the Great Wall of China. I also got a little tea set for decoration and a necklace hanger. It was fun.

Then we took another taxi back to the hotel. We just got back up into the room, and I think we’re all going to bed pretty soon. It was a fun and full, but tiring day. Tomorrow should be another fun day!!
