China Day 13 - Monday May 30

Today we all slept in! Well, kind of. I woke up at 6:30, just because, and checked my email. Rob sent me a few emails, with a photo that shows how excited Nelly was to see him. :) So I tried to FaceTime him on my iPhone. It didn’t go through, so I just decided to try and fall back asleep. But right then, Rob called me.

(For those of you who don’t know what FaceTime is, or how cool iPhones are…It’s a video call that uses Wi-Fi. So, because I don’t have any cell phone service over here, but I do have Wi-Fi, and so does Rob, we can talk on our phones through the internet, and I can even see him and Nelly! I love it, and it is so handy to have right now!!)

After I talked to Rob for a little while, I went back to bed. I didn’t wake up until 10, and even then I didn’t want to wake up. We all got ready and went out to eat at the Blue Frog with my dad.

Then, mom, Amie, and I went to the fabric market. I love that place!! You can have things made specifically for you there. You can have things copied, you can describe what you want and they will draw it up, or you can choose from something in their shop to copy that. It’s amazing. I needed to have a dress and a skirt of mine altered, so that’s what we did first. Then we went to a different shop and ordered some silk dresses. Then we went to a different shop and ordered some shirts. Then we went to a different shop and ordered some skirts and cotton dresses. It’s so fun!! We get to go in on Saturday morning to pick them up.

On our way out the market, there were some jewelry vendors on the street, and we bought some jewelry. Then we headed back home. We were going to get foot massages at 6, and it was already 5.

Our foot massages were amazing!! They lasted an hour, and cost less than $20. We were in a room that was really dark, and there was relaxing “music” with crickets chirping on, and a running water fountain in the corner so we could hear the trickling water. They brought us blankets and laid a warm pad on our stomachs. While our feet were soaking in warm water, they massaged our necks and backs. It felt amazing!! When they were done with that, they took the warm pad and laid it under our necks and shoulder. Then they worked on the feet and legs. It was so nice I could have fallen asleep.

After the massages, we ordered some Papa John’s pizza for dinner and headed home. Amie and I watched Salt, and I did some wash to get ready for Hong Kong tomorrow!!
