Grand Opening!!

It's finally here! The Grand Opening of Rob's new store was today and it went great!

It's been really hectic this past week trying to finalize everything. Last Saturday the building was still under construction, and we were trying to set out as much of the inventory as they already had. (They only had a fraction of what they needed by today.) Then all of this week, there were cleaning people and more construction people finishing things up. I went into the store with Rob on Thursday night and we cleaned the place for 4 hours so it would be spotless when all the corporate guy got there Friday.

The store opened for business Monday, but since nothing before the Grand Opening was advertised, there weren't too many customers. It was good and helped prepare all the new employees for today.

This morning at 8:00 am, it all started. Rob said when they opened the doors, there was a line around the side of the building. They gave away bags with accessories in them to the first 100 people. They were also giving away a free Simply Mac shirt for anyone who scanned a certain barcode with their smart phone. They had a few iPods, an iPad, and a computer to give away as well. It was a big deal.

I got one of the t-shirts. I love it! :) They were selling these shirts at Rob's store in Layton, and I wanted him to buy me one, but I think he forgot. So when he said I could have one, I was super excited.

I showed up around 11:30, hoping to miss some of the huge crowd at the beginning. I don't know what it was like at 8:00, but when I was there, it was packed! It was awesome to see the store like that. I think they might have a lot of success up here. They had balloon clusters all around the store, and groups of green apples on all the tables. It looked great.

Rob was so excited that he let me take these photos, with everyone in the store, and didn't complain at all! It was awesome.

We love that he has this job now. For the first time in the 3 years we've been married, we finally both have health, dental, and vision insurance! I've had BYU's Student Health Plan, but Rob hasn't had anything. We were eligible, but when he was still entry level, it wasn't worth the cost we would have to pay. It was ridiculous. But now, it's definitely affordable!

And he has business cards! We were eating dinner at his store in the back of our truck yesterday. He stopped eating, looked at me, and said, "If you need to call me, here's my card." And handed me his card. It was pretty funny.

I'm so proud of him. I'm so proud that he's the head guy there now. It's a huge jump from when he started entry level a year and a half ago. He deserves this. About 6 months after being hired, he made an appointment with the Director of Sales, his boss now. He practically said that I'm here to stay and I want to move up within this company. Ever since then, they've really been considering him for the openings. He moved from Sales Associate to Lead Sales and now Store Manager. I'm so happy for him. I'm so proud that he took the initiative and it payed off.

I'm so excited his store is finally officially open! For a while back in April and May, we weren't sure when this was going to happen. The day just kept getting pushed back. But it's finally here!!
