Today we slept in! It felt awesome. We went to lunch at the Blue Frog and then went to the underground market. I love the underground market! But I will admit, I forgot how much the shop owners hassle you. As you’re walking past they all say, “Lady, come look at shirts (or whatever they have.) Just look, just come in.) It’s ridiculous, and I actually really dislike it. Haha, but it’s worth it for the price we pay for things.
We bought a ton of stuff. (Well actually, I bought a ton of stuff.) I got a purse and a wallet, supposedly the wallet is Dolce and Gabbana and the purse is Tods. I doubt their real, but no one could ever tell that. We paid 100 kuai for them both, which is about $15!! I also got some little Chinese silk bags, 2 pairs of sunglasses for 60 kuai, which is about $9. I got a silk nightgown, and Rob got a key chain. We also got some Chinese trinkets to put on display in our house. We also got jade stamps that say our names in Chinese. I love it all! And I love the underground market!!
Amie helped us a lot with the bargaining but Rob sealed the deal almost every time. Amie said, more than once “I live here. I know that’s too expensive.” And she’d tell us what she would pay for it. Then Rob would just start walking away if they weren’t going low enough for us, and the store owners would almost always yell prices to us down the hallway until we reached the price we were willing to pay. It’s so fun!
After that, we came home and had Papa Johns for dinner. They’ve gotten a lot better over the past 3 and a half years. I remember the last time I was here it didn’t taste anything like Papa Johns in the United States. But last night, it was unbelievably close to how it tastes in the states. We made brownies and had ice cream. It was a great day.
