ROB AND I ARE MOVING IN 3 WEEKS!! Well, in 3 weeks we will start packing, and hopefully we're out before Christmas, because I don't want our whole Christmas break spent moving. :) Anyway, we are moving up to Ogden, eventually. For the first few months, until we can find a really nice place to live at a good price that allows dogs, we are going to be living with Rob's parents in Huntsville. I'm so excited about this because Huntsville is one of our most favorite spots in the whole country!! So, we will probably be up there for a few months at least, maybe even for the whole semester. We're not sure yet.
But why are we moving? Well, ROB GOT A NEW JOB!! Not really a new job, just a promotion, which is amazing!! His new position is up in Layton, which is only 15 minutes away from Ogden. He started in the middle of October, and since then, he's been traveling back and forth between Provo and Layton, some nights staying with his parents because Huntsville is only 30 minutes away from his work as opposed to Provo, which is an hour and a half during traffic. That has been kind of a bummer, but he hasn't been gone too many nights, so I'm alright with it. On the weekends, I go up with him, and we both just stay the weekends with his parents. This makes it easier for him to get to work and so that I am not stuck home alone on Friday nights, Saturdays, and the occasional Sunday he has to work.
So, we decided that the best thing for us would be to move. This did pose a little challenge though because I am still in school at BYU and have at least a couple more years left. (It seems I just dilly-dallied through my first few years, and now I'm regretting it.) But, we decided to move anyway. I didn't want to never see Rob and I didn't want him to be traveling for 3 hours a day!! (And we didn't think we could afford that much money in gas.) So, after this semester is over in two and a half weeks, I will no longer be a BYU student. Instead, I WILL BE A WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT!!
I'm really excited for this change!! I think it will help me out so much, for more than one reason.
- Trying to say this politely, Provo is not my favorite place to be. There are way too many college students in one town, and it seems like Provo is a "bubble". There is no diversity here, which some people love. However, Rob and I like diversity.
- Ogden is very diverse!! It's almost like Ogden doesn't belong in Utah, because of how diverse it is, and that's one of the reasons we love it.
- I have no desire to finish school right now. I feel like I've been here forever, and still have forever to go, so I think a change will help me.
- At Weber, I can finish sooner than I could at BYU. This is because at BYU, once in the accounting program, which is what I think I want to do, you have to take certain classes on their schedule, with the summers off. It's nice to have a break, but I just want to be done, so I think I may go to school during the summer and finish sooner.
- Rob's family is all up in the Ogden area!! I've missed living in Ogden so bad since we've been down here in Provo. I love hanging out with his cousins (who were some of my best friends when we lived there) and spending time with all of his family, but since we've lived in Provo, that time has been drastically cut down. So I'm really happy to be able to be close to his family again.
The only thing really left for me to do is look for a job up there. And I have started, but it's not high on my priority list right now. Right now I just want to focus on finishing this semester, and then I will really start looking. Since we will be living with Rob's parents, it's not a huge necessity that I find a job immediately, although it would be nice. :)
Now don't get me wrong, there are many things I am going to miss in Provo. Three of which being:
- MY JOB - I have loved my job! It's been one of the best job's I could have ever found! I took the job back in November of last year. I was in training for a month and a half. Then after Christmas break, I was on my own. (I replaced my sister-in-law, so it was really nice to know who I was being trained by. Haha.) I could make my own hours, and it was really flexible. It was amazing. So, I worked in that position until August of this year when I switched positions within the same office. My first position was more of a secretary/assistant job and my current position is more of an accountant job. I actually like my current position so much more! And I don't even know why, but I like the daily tasks better. So, with this position I work 9-1 every weekday morning. But it is still flexible. I'm still able to take days off when I need, and even come in late and stay later when I need. It's really perfect. Not to mention I have the best boss ever!! She is an amazing person, and always brings us food!! Not just snacks either, but full meals. And the other students I work with are awesome too. Everything about it is great. So I will really miss it.
- OUR HOUSE - I love our home! It is my favorite place we have lived since we've been married. It's a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom condo, with a washer and dryer included. It has a kitchen the size of a kitchen you'd find in a home, and a nice sized living room. Plus, it has a walk-in closet in our bedroom!! And a pantry in the kitchen!! I have never had an actual pantry, and I love it!! We have been renting this from my parents who own the place. (My dad owns multiple condos around Provo and he rents them out to college students.) I will be sad to have to say goodbye.
- MY FAMILY - We live close to my brother and sister-in-law and occasionally hang out with them. We help each other out. I've taken them to the airport, and they take my places when I need to go also. Like this Friday, Ryan is driving me up to American Fork after he gets off work to meet his aunt up there. It's been really nice living close to them and just knowing they are willing to help when we need them. Although, I think they may be moving somewhere this summer for Ryan to go to dental school, so I guess we would have been split up eventually.
so i posted something good, but it didn't post so basically thanks for procrastinating on studying and providing a thorough update on your life:P
