Supercross in California!!

I'm a little late on this post, but I haven't had a ton of free time lately, so I feel ok about it. Rob and I went down to California the weekend of February 4th to go to the Supercross race in Anaheim. We left Idaho Falls late Thursday afternoon and dropped Nelly off in Ogden to stay with Rob's family. Then we headed to Provo to pick up the rest of our party. Rob's cousins Todd and Emalee, and his good friend Jay. It was a little squeezed because all 5 of us were in the Subaru, but it was still fun. We drove straight through, and pulled into Upland about 5:30 in the morning. We stayed with Todd and Ema's aunt and uncle who were so nice to let us all crash there in their already full house.

After a few hours of sleep, we headed out to Newport beach with Todd and Ema's sister-in-law Kazia, her two kids, and her brother. It was the funnest day I've ever had at the beach. We rented cruiser bikes and rode them for an hour on the boardwalk. It was so fun!! Rob and I decided we always want to do that when we're there. After bikes we just hung out for a while on the sand. I thought the water was too cold to get in, but the guys didn't. Jay was trying to teach them all how to surf while I was laying in the wonderfully warm sun. After surfing, they played Bocci Ball and the seagulls attacked our food while we were all away from the blanket. :)

After the beach, we stopped at this little Tex Mex place on the boardwalk and got some delicious food! Rob said they had the best fish tacos he's ever had, and my nachos were really good. After heading back to Kazia's house, we relaxed there for a few hours till we decided it was time for dinner. We ate at a place called Bruxi, who served waffles. (Not just waffles, but sandwiches on waffles.) Everyone said they were delicious, but I just got a plain waffle. :) After that, we pretty much called it a night.

Saturday, we kind of slept in and got a late start.
After going out and getting an oil change in our car, we (Rob, Jay, and I) got lunch at Chipotle on our way down to Anaheim to meet up with everyone else. We got to the stadium about 2 in the afternoon and spend the whole night there. We first watched all the practices. That was fun because there weren't many people in the stadium and we got to sit down really low. After watching the practices for a while we went down into the pits and got to see the riders and their bikes up close. I got a signed poster of James Stewart, one of the best in the sport, and a sweet rubber wrist band that had a watch on it. :) I love free stuff. I was on the hunt for a Chad Reed shirt though, and couldn't find one. They were all one size to big. He's my favorite rider, and I have a shirt of his, but it's a few years old and he's switched teams since then, so it's pretty out of date. I really wanted his autograph, but that didn't work out. I always seem to miss it. Maybe this year in Salt Lake I'll finally be able to catch him. (I know these photos are dark, but we mainly wanted the track anyways. I'm wearing my new Reed shirt!!)

Anyways, after the pits for a while we headed back up to the stands, and I found my shirt! I was lucky, it was the one they had on display but let me take it. We went back out to the car for a little bit to snack on some food while nothing was going on. Then we headed back in for the races to start!! I love watching, and especially going to the Supercross races. (Before I met Rob, I never would have thought I'd enjoy this, but I really do!) The races were really good and we had a blast. Reed didn't win it, :( but he still did pretty good. :)

After the races, we all went out to eat/get dessert at a chinese place called Guppy House. Our dessert was a HUGE bowl of finely shaved ice, pineapple and mango chunks on top, and sweetened condensed milk poured on top. I know it sounds gross, because I thought it did too, but it was actually delicious!! Rob and I also ordered fried rice, and that was amazing.

After the Guppy House, we decided to leave to head back to Utah. It wasn't until 1:30 in the morning when we finally pulled out of California, but we all decided we'd rather have a relaxing Sunday than a half way decent night's sleep on Saturday. It was rough, but Jay drove the entire way home, so we all got to rest for the most part. We dropped them all off in Provo and then headed up to Huntsville to spend the rest of the day and pick up Nelly. We got there around 12:30 in the afternoon, which was much earlier than we had originally planned on. We made it to the Superbowl party and everything!! Then Rob and I drove back up to Idaho Falls that night and went back to work on Monday morning.

It was such a short trip, but we crammed so much in it that it actually felt like we were gone an entire week. We were exhausted, but it was totally worth it. I hope we can do that again next year! I loved it!
